Designed by the renowned personal-defence authority Michael Janich, the Yojimbo™ 2 played a significant role in popularising the concept of the “tactical Wharncliffe.” This elite version enhances the design with Spyderco’s proprietary CPM® SPY27® blade steel.
Available only on select Spyderco knives, this premium steel features an advanced alloy formula that includes vanadium, molybdenum, niobium, and nitrogen. These alloys are further enhanced by the amplifying effects of cobalt, the steel’s signature element, alongside the cutting-edge Crucible Particle Metallurgy process, resulting in a blade steel that achieves an impressive combination of edge retention, toughness, and corrosion resistance.
These characteristics provide exceptional support to the ultra-keen edge geometry of the Yojimbo 2’s hollow-ground Wharncliffe blade, which is housed in a handle designed with skeletonised stainless steel liners nestled within peel-ply-textured G-10 scales. The liners serve as the backbone of the knife’s robust Compression Lock® mechanism and secure its four-position pocket clip, allowing for customisable carry options on either side, as well as tip-up or tip-down configurations.
Like other members of Spyderco’s elite CPM SPY27 family, the handle scales of the Yojimbo 2 proudly showcase a distinctive cobalt blue colour.
