Designed by Eric Glesser, the ButtonUp™ is Spyderco’s inaugural manual-opening button-lock folder. This innovative knife features a robust, ultra-convenient button-lock mechanism paired with ball-bearing pivot washers, resulting in one of the smoothest and most “fidget-friendly” folder actions ever created by Spyderco.
The modified clip-point blade is crafted from 8Cr13MoV stainless steel, featuring a full-flat grind for enhanced edge geometry and strength. Housed in a lightweight and easy-to-clean open-backed handle, the ButtonUp™ features smooth carbon fibre/G-10 laminate scales reinforced with nested stainless steel microliners around the pivot and lock.
For user convenience, the knife includes a reversible hourglass clip that accommodates both left- and right-side tip-up carry. The clip is anchored to an additional set of microliners located at the butt of the handle, which also straddles a lined lanyard tube for easy attachment of fobs and lanyards.
The ButtonUp™ is available in two versions: one with a satin-finished blade and brightly finished handle hardware, and another with a sleek all-black theme, including a black oxide blade coating and matching black-coated hardware. Both versions come with a choice of PlainEdge™ or partially serrated CombinationEdge™ blade configurations.
