The CRKT Kova™ was inspired by older-style central lock and back locking knives; Ken chose a front lock design utilising the knife's liners as springs for the front lock, thus creating even more area for the blade.
Simplifying the internal mechanism also influenced the exterior design making the knife more convenient to hold, with far less need to change your grip when opening or closing.
