Enhanced Cutting Performance with 9Cr18MoV Steel
At the heart of the Magpie is a full-flat-ground blade made from 9Cr18MoV stainless steel, offering an excellent balance of edge retention, corrosion resistance, and everyday cutting performance. With higher carbon and chromium content than the steel used in earlier byrd designs, 9Cr18MoV offers improved wear resistance and edge retention while remaining relatively easy to maintain.
The full-flat-ground blade geometry delivers efficient slicing performance, making the Magpie well suited to general utility tasks where clean, controlled cutting is essential.
Finished with a distinctive black oxide coating, the blade complements the knife’s eye-catching appearance while providing a subdued, non-reflective finish.
