Spyderco founder Sal Glesser has always liked Bowie Knives.
His Respect design pays tribute to the classic American Bowie Knife while expressing it with state-of-the-art modern materials. The heart of the invention is its blade, which is crafted from CPM® 154 stainless steel.
An impressive .300-inch (7.6mm) thick at the spine and ricasso, the Respect’s broad, satin-finished blade is just over 1.5 inches (38.1mm) wide and features a full-flat grind for both strength and superior edge geometry. The long, straight, double-bevelled swedge on the back of the blade is unsharpened but ensures an exceptionally acute point.
The Respect’s double guard is precision machined from stainless steel and meticulously press-fitted to the tang and shoulders of the blade. It is held in place by contoured G-10 scales with matching machined cavities to envelop the concealed tang.
Stainless steel Torx® screws secure them to achieve a near-seamless, one-piece feel in the hand that highlights the handle’s refined ergonomics.
Complementing its traditional style, the Respect is furnished with a high-quality, handcrafted leather sheath with a conventional belt loop and a brass stud. The stud secures the end of the sheath’s leather retaining strap to keep the knife in place and prevents the sheath from slipping down when it is worn using classic inside-the-waistband carry.
